  1. Acadia National Park – Maine

If you are looking for a place that captures the essence of fall, then look no further than Acadia National Park. Consistently ranked for the top 10 most visited parks in the United States since its founding in 1919, Acadia is among the most beautiful parks in the country. With little-to-no crowds in September and October compared to the summer, Autumn is the perfect time to see the beauty of the park. Acadia sits on over 47,000 acres of land and houses over 1,000 plant species. Furthermore, the weather in September stays in the high 60s and drops to the mid-50s by October with the leaves changing color from October 13 to the 22nd. The Jesup Path and Hemlock Path Loop take you 1.5 miles through a white birch forest. For an outstanding view of Acadia, the Bubbles Nubble Loop is a 2.6 mile hike which grants breathtaking views of Eagle Lake and bright forests.  

2. Boston, Massachusetts

A very historical site in New England, Boston is home to a variety of fun activities and attractions during the fall season. The city is home to a vast number of public parks to visit and enjoy, which are prime locations to relax after stopping by a local cafe for those fall themed drinks! While at a cafe, it might be good to get a warm drink as Boston reaches low 70s in September and low 60s in October. The Boston Public Garden is a beautiful park to visit in the fall which is the first botanical garden of the US. The park was founded in 1837, highlighting a Victorian variety of exotic imported trees and plants, allowing for beautiful lakeside views and truly a one of a kind experience.

3. New York City, New York

Tired of the burning weather that comes with the summer months in New York City? Come visit during fall, where some people say it’s the perfect time to visit. Even though the November months feature the famous Macy’s day parade, it tends to get crowded, expensive, and a bit uncomfortably cold. That’s why it’s recommended to visit in September – October during the fall season. Another plus of this is that you’ll also be able to latch onto some cheaper hotel prices! As for the fall scenery in New York City, there are many beautiful places to go sightseeing like the popular Central Park, as well as the New York Botanical Garden.

4. Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, New Jersey  

Only a one hour drive away from Mountain Lakes, the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a scenic valley that sits on the Delaware River. With its natural beauty, the valley has been a hotspot for 12,000 years. Today, it is a perfect day trip with family or friends with 47 hiking trails, a 32 mile long bike trail, and stunning views. This makes it a must see tourist site for those in New Jersey. Overall, October’s low crowds and majestic autumn colors make it an amazing time to visit.
