Introduction

When the clock strikes 6 at Six Flags Great Adventure Park, demons, clowns, and late-night rides eagerly await guests at the gates of Fright Fest. As this eerie atmosphere closes in on the park, scare actors lurk in the shadows, spooky-themed decorations cover ride lines and restaurants, and haunted houses open their doors to only the bravest of visitors. Six Flags truly has something to offer for guests of all ages as they’ve added a “Boo Fest” for kids. Filled with a bunch of cute Halloween activities such as trick-or-treating, Boo Fest caters to the little ghouls and ghosts of the family. From spooktastic scare zones to the many fa-boo-lous haunted houses located around the park, Six Flags’ 50th annual Fright Fest has much to offer for lovers of all things Halloween and thrill!

Scare Zones

A fan favorite of Fright Fest would have to be the numerous scare zones scattered around the park. Thanks to the talents of spine-chilling scare actors, ordinary park pathways are transformed into the signature scare zones of Fright Fest during this time of year. This season, Six Flags welcomed 5 new, never-seen-before zones into the fest: The Bloody Fountain, Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty, CarnEvil, Demon District, and Exile Canyon.

Zombie at Blood Fountain

The Bloody Fountain is found right at the entrance of the park, where unexpected guests fall prey to zombies lurking in the ground. This proved to be one of the fest’s rather tame zones, as most of the scare actors were confined to the fence surrounding the fountain. As guests pass by the Skull Mountain attraction, they are greeted by plagued pirates, spooky sea creatures, moss monsters, and more – better not get too close to that lake! A zone evoking many more blood-curdling screams was CarnEvil, an attraction featuring killer clowns running rampant in the streets of Six Flags boardwalk.

Clown Parade

For those wishing to ride Jersey Devil, its long wait lines may be the least of your worries as demons guard the entrance and exit to this single-ride thriller. These devilish ghouls await you with shakers and fake chainsaws, filling Jersey Devil’s entry with horrified screams and terrified shrieks. Last, but definitely not least, on the Scare Zone checklist is Exile Canon. Located next to Log Flume, Exile Canon showcases underground zombie miners who emerge from the numerous hiding spots scattered in this pathway.

Kids Boo Fest

For those with younger ghouls and ghosts wishing to partake in some not-so-scary Halloween festivities, look no further than Boo Fest! This fun-filled event offered four fun-filled activities and shows: Witches Brew, Trick or Treating’ with Boo, The Hunt for Boo, and Doc Swan’s Spooky Kooky Magic Show. All of these shows can be found in Bugs Bunny National Park except for The Hunt for Boo, which is a part of the Safari Off Road Adventure attraction.

Haunted Houses & Mazes

Exclusive only to Haunted Attraction pass holders are the haunted houses and mazes of Fright Fest. This fall, Six Flags welcomed nine spooktacular haunted houses/mazes: SAW: THE LEGACY OF TERROR, The Conjuring Universe, Stranger Things, Army of the Dead, Trick ‘r Treat, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Big Top Terror, The Asylum, and The Witches Reflections. Similar to the scare zones, haunted attractions also include scare actors. Those who dare to brave the mysteries of these haunted attractions must also be wary of loud noises, flashing lights, fog machines, confined spaces, and deathly darkness at any given turn.

Final Thoughts

Fright Fest 2024 delivered plenty of frights and delights, providing fang-tastic fun to those of all different age groups and demographics. In addition to the thrills and attractions, the park had a bunch of sweet treats and spooky-themed eateries around for guests to snack on, as well as some wicked merchandise up for sale in the stores of Mainstreet.
