Introduction

As we all know, the New Year means a new me, but is that the case? We’ve sent out a survey to see students’ New Year’s Resolutions. During the cold winter months, New Year’s offers a chance to reset and reflect. Forming good habits to improve one’s quality of life is a common aspiration, whether it’s getting into fitness or reconnecting with loved ones.

How do Lakers compare to the rest of America?

You may wonder how MLHS compares to the rest of the United States. There are obvious similarities but also significant differences. A 2025 Statista survey provides data on Americans’ resolutions. On the national scale, with 36% of Americans, and for Lakers, with 28% responses, the top resolution for both was to eat healthier/exercise more. With the common internet trend of starting your “winter arc,” (a period of mental or physical improvement during the winter), this is no surprise. Expect to see bustling gyms and nutritional plates during 2025. Coming in at number two for the nation, 21% of participants resolved to save money. This is a stark contrast to the mere 1.9% of Lakers that chose to commit to financial goals.

Here are some of the results from this year’s poll:

Conclusion

Mountain Lakes has a wide range of goals, from getting off screens to making progress in the gym. No matter what you’re striving for, know that there are Lakers right along with you, and we’re all trying to succeed.
