As everyone knows, when winter rolls around, Volleyball Mania is right around the corner! During the November and December months, the gym is jam packed with various teams playing heated matches in hopes of making it to the semi finals, and ultimately, winning Volleyball Mania. A week before the big game, I had the opportunity to interview some teammates and their feelings about the anticipated tournament.

What is the best part about Volleyball Mania?

The competition. Everyone goes so hard, which makes it fun. – Ryan Shanker (’20)

It is the highlight of my entire life, it is fun, and builds a sense of camaraderie. – Caroline Daly (’21)

Bonding with the team. – Riley Albregts (’21)

My favorite part was almost beating Riley in a close game. I think we will make it; I hope we will make it. – Thomas Aiello (’21)

Do you think your team will make it to the Playoffs?

How would you describe your team and how has it been working with your teammates?

We may not be athletically the strongest, but we have the most heart. – Savannah Sutter (’21)

Ashley Miller and I usually work in the back. We bump a lot of big spikes. We had one tie so far, which was the closest call. – Gabriella Cera (’20)

We are a strong team. – Billy Smith (’21)

Our team is solid. We give 110 percent. – Alexa Krause (’21)

Whether volleyball is your thing or not, it is always an event that builds a ton of excitement, and MLHS pride. The day of the game is always a highlight as the gym is filled with students in holiday apparel from head to toe, screaming for their favorite team to win. Best of luck to every team as they give it their all in the ultimate facedown!
