Out with the old and in with the new! Except… in 2023, we are seeing a lot of fashion trends that have taken inspiration from past decades! 2022 was a big fashion year filled with fun, stylish trends. Fashion trends are constantly coming back and this year, fashion is taking a big influence from the 90s and the early 2000s. Here are five upcoming fashion trends for 2023 that you can add to your wardrobe!
Cargo pants
Cargo pants became increasingly popular last year and the trend will continue in 2023. Now, low-waisted, baggy cargo pants have become a staple in many wardrobes. The functional yet stylish pants can be used in everyday life from casual streetwear to a more dressed-up look. Who knew boy scout pants with 15 pockets would be a trend?
Sheer fabrics
Sheer fabrics are also making a huge comeback. We saw a little bit of this last year and it will continue to be prevalent this year. Sheer and mesh fabrics are easy statement pieces that can spice up any look. There are so many ways to wear these pieces such as layering in the winter or by themselves in the summer. Sheer accessories are also a simple way to participate in the trend if you’re not ready to dive straight in with a see-through article of clothing!
Blazers
Blazers are not for old people anymore! You can easily dress up or down a blazer depending on your event. There are lots of layering opportunities and one simple, timeless blazer can be incorporated into so many different outfits. Wearing jeans and a blazer gives both men and women a classy, effortless look.
Oversized
Oversized everything is following us into the new year. Oversized is much more comfortable than the skinny jeans that our generation has thankfully banished. We will continue to see oversized jeans, shirts, hoodies, and other pieces this year. In addition to the wide, straight-leg jeans, flared and bootleg-cut jeans will also make an appearance.
Y2K and 90s revival
A common theme running through all of these trends is the early 2000s and 90s influences. A lot of the current styles and fashion trends are taken from these decades, but with a modern twist. Some examples include mini-shoulder bags, low-waisted jeans, micro skirts, bedazzled items, and claw clips. Although the 2000s are back, don’t worry, we won’t be dressed like Hannah Montana again!
