What about it?

We all live on the same planet. There is only one Earth, and as its inhabitants we have a duty to protect and preserve a planet that continues to nourish and provide for us. This may seem like a huge responsibility to grasp, but we all carry a weight in our planet’s future. Through educating ourselves and teaching others about environmental awareness, we can begin fixing the problems that threaten our home. Get involved!

How to Think Green at School:

1) Start small. Things that may seem insignificant at times can have long-lasting effects on the environment. For example: not letting the water run, turning off the lights, recycling and doing it properly. Start using recycled paper when printing your homework, or type your notes in class instead of using paper. Make some environment friendly lifestyle changes! All of these actions add up, and although you may not see this now the future generations will thank you for it.

2) Spread the awareness. Something as simple as informing your family, friends, and classmates can make a huge impact. Do your own research and update yourself on current environmental issues. Find ways to get your community and school involved—whether it’s sharing your knowledge on a blog or on your social media or becoming a member of your school’s environmental club. Bring ideas to the table to inspire others to promote environmental awareness. Be proactive!

3) Practice conservation and be aware of resources. Being an environment friendly person means working towards being more environmentally responsible. Take action in making changes on a personal level as well as on a public one. Give yesterday’s trash new life by using products from environmentally conscious companies that focus on using recycled materials in their products.

Some ways to get started:
–       Respect your school’s recycling program
–       Buy eco-friendly school supplies
–       Use recycled printing paper for homework, essays, and projects
–       Skip the plastic or paper bags and opt for a lunch box
–       Grow/introduce plants in/to the classrooms
–       Carpool, walk, or bike to school
–       Turn off the lights when leaving an empty classroom
–       Use only one or two towels when drying your hands
–       Ask you art teacher to start an upcycling project
–       Take advantage of online school tools
–       Join the school’s environmental club
