Have you ever heard of the special menu in the MLHS cafeteria for students with dietary restrictions? Maybe not. My name is Kristen Leba and I am a junior here at MLHS, and I am going for my gold award for Girl Scouts. I created a survey in which I asked students about whether or not they had heard about this menu, and I found some interesting results.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that many of the students here have no idea about this menu. Although many students do choose from the lactose-intolerant or gluten-free options, far too few people even know about the special menu at all. Is this due to the lack of advertisement and talk about it? I’d never known about it until I actually spoke with the food director here at the high school, and I’ve been getting food for three years. Insane. Right?
You may be asking yourself: How can I get this menu to help my needs? Well, for those with an interest in treating your dietary needs, the answer is quite simple. All you need to do is ask the nurse for forms regarding these menus so you are able to get the correct menu that meets your needs. For people who don’t have specific needs, however, not much can be done. I have not yet figured out why, but when I do, you will be informed of my findings. I hope this article helped someone with dietary restrictions, and if you have any questions, feel free to email me at kpleba21@mlschools.org.
