Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has officially started and it has been long awaited! The tour was announced on the first of November after her tenth studio album Midnights was released. There are a total of 52 shows in the U.S. with soon-to-be-decided international dates. True to the name, each show consists of songs from almost all her albums! The show opens with songs from Lover and progresses through all her eras and ends with Midnights. The set list contains 44 songs and is three and a half hours long! A lot of her most popular songs are played with an emphasis on Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights since they have never been performed live on a tour.
Additionally, Swift has incorporated a surprise element into each of her past tours and this one is no different. This time around, every tour date gets an additional two surprise acoustic songs that will not be played on any of her other dates. On the first night of the show in Glendale, Arizona, she played Mirrorball from Folklore and Tim McGraw from her debut album.
Swift has incremented many impressive factors to create an exceptional experience for the audience. The Lover house, which is a dollhouse with colored rooms that represent each of her albums was featured throughout the Lover set. The piano featured during the Evermore era has been inspiration from the piano in the Cardigan music video. Another Folklore aspect incorporated into the show was previously from her performance at the Grammys when she sang Cardigan, August, and Willow. The cabin makes an appearance during the Folklore set. As if the concert was not exhilarating enough, Taylor decided to dive into the stage! She dove head-first into an opening on the floor and came out wearing a whole new costume. Swift truly tricked her audience to make it seem like she was swimming underneath the stage!
In the song, You’re On Your Own Kid, from the Midnights album, the lyric
“So make the friendship bracelets/ take the moment and taste it”
–You’re On Your Own Kid, from the Midnights
This lyric has inspired her fan base to make a plethora of friendship bracelets to trade with other “Swifties” at her tours. This concert is ultimately her best yet and is an outstanding display of her talent. Tickets for her show were extremely difficult to buy, but if you were one of the lucky ones, be ready for an extraordinary show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on either May 26th, 27th, or 28th!
