Here is a collection of poems written by MLHS Sophomore Daniella Kimowitz!

How Do I Finish the Race?
With life like a marathon at times
It feels like I don’t have enough training
To run through the finish line
I know I will, but at what pace?
If I go too fast, will I fall on my face?
If I go too slow will I lag behind?
So far back I can never hope to shine
Or do I say screw it?
I’ll get to that line
Whether it takes me forever
Or no time at all
At least I dared to try
Even if I fall
I’ll pick myself up with dignity and grace
Knowing no matter what I will finish the race

Blown Away
“Grief is the price we pay for love.”
~ Queen Elizabeth II
Roses will wilt and blow away,
No matter how much we want them to stay
We plant them knowing there will be an end
Even if it brings us pain, it was good time to spend
As time goes by, new plants will grow
We never truly fill the hole, though
We can try and try, but at the end of the day
We must accept our roses have blown away

The Ocean Blue
Grief is like the ocean-blue
Sadness flows with the tides
Everchanging, everlasting,
Warping everything around it
Waves of sorrow crash down
With the power of a thousand tsunamis
All-encompassing, it looks as if there is no escape
As it desecrates obstacles in its wake
